For 93 consecutive years, the South Hastings Baseball League has been a source of pride to our local communities and the athletes who represent them. It began as a pastime that brought together the farmers, millworkers, and tradesmen in the region to play baseball under shared values of integrity, respect, and dedication. That tradition continues in 2026, with seven teams set to compete for the honour of the Thornton Portt Memorial Championship Trophy.
Independent of the Ontario Baseball Association, the SHBL is widely regarded as the oldest continuously operating senior men’s baseball league in Canada — a rare living piece of local sporting heritage.
